PhD Initiatives
As a fellow of HGS MathComp, you can apply for funding to start your own initiative for PhD students. Typically, this will be an event such as a workshop/conference for junior researchers. Other ideas may also qualify if you submit a strong proposal.
Available funding per application: € 4000
Eligible expenses:
- Catering
- Invited speakers (e.g. honorarium, accommodation, travel expenses)
- Consumables
- Advertising
- Other expenses subject to discussion
Additional support:
- Kick-off meeting to discuss the necessary administrative processes
- Assistance with booking catering, advertising, and paperwork (such as contracts and invoices)
Requirements:
- The event must benefit the wider PhD community of HGS MathComp, not only specific research groups.
- For expenses exceeding the maximum grant (€ 4000), efforts to secure co-funding must be demonstrated.
- Collaboration with partners (other graduate schools, departments at other universities, other student groups) is strongly encouraged.
- Applicants handle all organizational tasks such as researching catering options, booking rooms, and participant registration.
- Successful applicants agree to help future applicants by sharing their experiences.
Application:
- Deadlines: 30.04. and 30.10. of each year
- Required documents: Tentative scientific program and financial plan (including co-funding, if applicable)
- Please submit your application via the funding application form.
