UPSTREAM - The Network for Women in Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science at Heidelberg University

The Upstream program is aimed at female mathematicians and scientists at all stages of their education, from pupils and students to doctoral candidates. Postdocs and professors will also find a lively network here, where the focus is on exchanging ideas about studying and careers in the STEM subjects.

Our Goals

We want to create an active network and provide female mathematicians and scientists with advice and support during their studies and during the transition between school, university and work. With the diversity of students in mind, we also aim to reflect this. This is why we continuously address the various aspects of diversity when planning and implementing the program. Take a look at the formats we have developed.

What do we offer?

At monthly lunch breaks, participants can contribute their ideas and we design the program together. If you prefer to talk about all kinds of study-related issues in a smaller group, you can take part in the mentoring program. We also offer other events: We hold workshops, organize lectures and invite successful women* from STEM professions to talk about their experiences and challenges.

You can find out what's coming up at Upstream in the next few months on the Upstream event page.

Would you like to join us?

Then write us an email (upstream@iwr.uni-heidelberg.de), drop by the office or come to the next lunch break. You can find out about current events on the homepage or via our email distribution list.
