Join Us for the HGS MathComp Annual Retreat 2026 in TĂĽbingen!
The Fellow Speakers of HGS MathComp invite all current and prospective fellows to this year’s annual retreat in Tübingen. The retreat offers a unique opportunity to connect with other fellows from diverse fields of scientific computing, discuss your own work, and learn about others’ research interests. Social activities like a city tour on a boat and a fun pub quiz will complete the most likely amazing experience.
Sharpen your skills in software development courses about generative AI for research software . Explore career paths beyond academia by engaging with HGS MathComp alumni now working at leading companies.

Soft Skill Workshop: Presenting
You chose from two possible workshops focusing on presentation an speaking for a crowd: Science slam or voice and body language
Science Slam
How do you turn complex research into a story people actually want to hear? In this hands-on Science Slam workshop, participants learn the essentials of engaging science communication: storytelling, audience engagement, and a more personal approach to talks. Through practical exercises and examples, you will discover how to make your ideas clear, memorable, and entertaining.
Voice and body language
Whether at conferences, communication events, negotiations or conversations with our colleagues: there are multiple situations where we want to act confidently and convincing - not only with regard to what we say, but also with how we say it.
Knowing how to effectively use your voice any body language in these situations is a powerful tool.
This workshop aims to help you get to know your voice better, provide practical tips, fill
your expressive toolbox and and get you ready - for an empowered voice in every situation.
