Our November 19, 2025 Lunch Break welcomed Tuany Gasparino to the Mathematikon, and it was truly an inspiring session. Tuany shared her professional journey as a Global Operations and Innovation Leader, emphasizing how she has continuously learned and grown throughout her career, even while tackling complex challenges.

During the session, we also had the chance to connect as Upstream members, exchanging ideas about our own career paths and visions for the future, whether in academia, industry, or beyond. The conversation became quite deep and personal at times, touching on common fears such as feeling not good enough or struggling to fit in, especially in male-dominated fields. Tuany shared valuable perspectives on how different personality traits can be strengths in different contexts and particularly how they can be assets in leadership roles.

She offered many practical tips for dealing with self-doubt and encouraged us to take action when we want to pursue something, rather than overthinking or second-guessing ourselves. Her advice was empowering, showing that we are strong, capable, and can achieve what we set out to do, especially when we have supportive contacts around us during challenging times.
