ERASMUS MUNDUS MOBILITY WITH ASIA

The stong link to South-East Asia is a key focus of the HGS MathComp. Four successful applications for Erasmus Mundus Action 2 exchange networks (Erasmus Mundus Mobility with Asia/EMMA 2009, EMMA EAST 2011, EMMA WEST 2011, EMMA WEST 2012) resulted in more than 80 mobilities from Asian countries into Heidelberg University. While 70% of these mobilities directly affect the full members of the HGS MathComp, 30% went to associate investigators. The staff exchange in this program resulted in several new cooperations between scientists. The graduate school invested considerable resources into the contact with P.R. China by organizing two Summer Schools in Shanghai and by participating in the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) PhD contact workshop 2010 in Beijing.

The EMMA program is an Erasmus Mundus Cooperation Window granted in the 7th EU framework to provide a fresh link for university education between Europe and Asia.
